A report from Deloitte & Touche LLP asserts that healthy domestic growth puts China in a strong position to influence local as well as global standards going forward.

Deloitte offers four bullet points for technology firms to consider as China's technology standards develop:

· Collaborate with standards setters

· Compete selectively, and focus on areas where standards are more difficult to mandate

· Innovate with the Chinese marketplace in mind

· Seed emerging markets to encourage early growth and establish control
